10 Favourite Uses of Bicarbonate of Soda

 

I always have Bicarbonate of soda around and like buying the 500g because it lasts me longer. Love using Bicarbonate of Soda so much because it has so many uses and its not expensive. I will be sharing with you my 10 favourite  uses of Bicarbonate of Soda I absolutely love.

Did you know that you can use Bicarbonate of Soda for other reasons than substituting baking powder?

10 Uses of Bicarbonate of Soda

Unblocking Clogged Drains

Learned this trick from my mom, add few tablespoons down the drain and then add in some vinegar. It will cause a chemical reaction degreasing the pipes. Rinse with hot water and voila the drain is unblocked. Saves you money at the same from calling out the plumber.

Odour Neutralizer

Place a container of Bicarbonate of soda inside your fridge to absorb some odours. It last up to two months. Make sure to stir it every few weeks.  You can also clean your bin with a simple solution 1 teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda to the water when washing your bin.

Skin Exfoliator

There was a time when I could not pimples of leave me alone then my little recommended I exfoliate my face with Bicarbonate of Soda once a week. Mix 3 parts of baking soda with 1 part of water to create a paste. Rub the paste on your face in circular motion and rinse with warm water. This will remove dead skin and give you a healthy glow.

Cleaning Brushes and Combs

Soak your brushes and combs inside a solution of 1 tablespoon of baking soda and water in a basin. Rinse clean with water and let dry.

Bathroom Cleanser

Bathroom cleaner can be expensive, so why not make you own. Add ¼ cup of baking soda, 1 cup of liquid detergent and some vinegar. This will not only make your bathroom clean but also eliminate fungi and bacteria without harsh chemicals.

Relive indigestion and heartburn

Bicarbonate of soda is a safe way to relieve acid. Mix ½ teaspoon in half a glass of water, let it dissolve completely and drink up.

Soothe Tired Feet

Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda into a small tub of warm water and soak your feet and relax.

Shoe Deodoriser

Bicarbonate of Soda is great for freshening up stinky shoes and inexpensive.

Deodorise Chopping Boards

we use the chopping board daily in the kitchen and to avoid cross-contamination. sprinkle some bicarbonate of soda, scrub and rinse your chopping board.

Brighten Your Clothes

Add 1 small cup of bicarbonate of soda to your load of laundry and your regular liquid detergent to the clothes cleaner and brighter.

Bicarbonate of Soda has may uses and I have just given you some of the uses, but there is a lot.
