How Gratitude Changed My Life For The Better

Anyone who knows me, knows how haunted I was about my childhood trauma which led to depression in my life. Last year this time I was the most negative person and sought validation from outside people and social media.

When I didn’t get external validation it fueled my depression until I had an epiphany. That life is just too long to go through it unhappy, angry and depressed. Started reading and took charge of my mental health and happiness. That is why today I am talking about how gratitude changed my life for the better.

Expressing gratitude is such a simple act and extremely rewarding which leads to great mental health and well-being.

How Gratitude Changed My Life For The Better

Stopped Being Angry

I had to learn to let go of my anger and understand that my childhood trauma was not my fault. Instead, there is a problem with the person that hurt me. Realising this led to.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness does not mean you are weak and a fool. It freed me from the mental prison I was trapped in by my past.

Less Stress

You see by expressing gratitude and celebrating even the tiniest victories led to less stress.

Sleep Better

Gosh, it feels so amazing to finally sleep through the night and be able to just switch off my mind and relax.

Happier

Being grateful has helped me to become happier in my life and stop worrying about things that I cannot control.

Content

See I am so content with what I have and have stopped chasing all the superficial and material things.

What I want you to take from this post is be thankful and grateful. You will see the weight of the world slowing off your shoulders.

It does not need to be a huge thing for you to be grateful. Remember how we used to say grace before eating when we were little. That was an act of gratitude, start small and all will just fall into place.

You may not be where you hoped to be in life, delayed dreams are not denied dreams. It just simply means that your season is yet to come and remember to be kind to yourself.

Start a gratitude journal and write in it every single day even if it is just one thing and slowly as days go on you will appreciate more things in your life.
