Timberland donates Stationery to Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital
In honour of the legacy of one of the world’s greatest statesmen; Nelson Mandela, Timberland donated stationery to the patients of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital (NMCH).
At the heart of the Timberland® brand is a strong commitment to make their products responsibly, protect and enhance the outdoors and strengthen communities around the world.
The donation forms part of Timberland’s current campaign, Nature Needs Heroes.
The campaign aims to engage the global community to be heroes for meaningful causes by taking simple and small actions towards meaningful change.
The brand hopes that by equipping young people with the necessary resources to get an education, it can ignite a passion for lasting change.
Actor, performer, and entrepreneur Thembi Seete joined Timberland® to spread joy and laughter during the handover.
“I have always believed that through small consistent changes, we can all make a difference. It was such a remarkable moment to engage with the children and hear their stories, I was truly inspired by their brave and relentless spirits.
The staff was also remarkable, these children are truly in a safe environment, surrounded by a powerful team of doctors, nurses and caregivers that are devoted to meeting their daily needs,” she commented.
“The visit and donation left nothing but smiles on the faces of our patients.
It is through support from individuals and organisations like Timberland.
That the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital is able to thrive in embracing a holistic healing approach to improve the health outcome of children.
Our volunteers give their time without expecting anything in return and the Timberland® donation is an indication of appreciation and support to our programmes,” said Agnes Kambira, Volunteers Programme Manager at NMCH.
“We work hard to make our products responsibly, to protect and restore the outdoors, and to serve the communities around the globe where we live, work and explore.
In our view, making premium, beautifully crafted products for the outdoor lifestyle and being a responsible corporate citizen are inextricably linked,” commented Moosa Mayet, Managing Director at Timberland® South Africa.
“Through this project, we wish to echo the words of the legendary Nelson Mandela that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”” He concluded.
